Why It’s Important
Marketing is changing. It’s not shouting at people to buy your stuff anymore (thank goodness!) It’s about helping people with their problems and providing your expertise so that they know and trust you can help them with bigger problems.
Pick one Place
There are so many places you can talk to your audience: blogs, email, instagram, pinterest, facebook, youtube, twitter, podcast, etc. You don’t have the time or resources to be on all of them. And you don’t need to be. Find where your people are hanging out and focus on that.
We focused on instagram for a year straight. And once we got that down, we moved on to the next one.
Focus on Conversations
We focus so much on the number of followers and not enough on the people who are already following us. Start having conversations and building relationships with your people.
Pick one Topic
When it comes to captions, go back to your dream client’s problem. Talk about that. Talk about the problem they’re facing, how they’re feeling, and how you can help. Provide value to them.
Avoid marketing narcissism by talking all about you and your products/services. Talk about them and how you can help.
Bring them into your World
A social audience is amazing but what happens when it goes down, or your account is banned, or people move on to the next platform. You want a way to bring them into your world. Your website.
For us, a blog has been a great way to do that and provide value to people.
